The story of Terry’s Naturals began in 1989, when Terry Dawn Behrman first started studying the properties and potential uses of hemp. At the time, she was living and working in Colorado. After welcoming her first child in 1990, her adventurous spirit led her to explore life on the road.
By 1994, Terry took her education and creativity across the country, traveling highways from Missouri to California and attending gatherings along the way, while always returning home to Colorado. She and her husband converted twin city transit buses into mobile living spaces, embracing a unique and unconventional lifestyle. During this period of extended downtime, Terry refined her skills in hemp crochet and design. Her work earned recognition and awards in 1997 for its originality and craftsmanship.
In 1998, with three children and a growing desire for stability, Terry chose to settle down and focus on family life. She later made Pueblo, Colorado her home, where her entrepreneurial journey continued. In 2004, she opened a retail business that reflected her artistic personality and love for natural materials. The shop’s distinctive name, The Hempen’ Lady and The Glass Hatter, was inspired by her passion for hemp-based goods and handmade art.
As interest and research surrounding hemp expanded, Terry returned to studying the plant and its wide range of practical applications. Motivated by the needs she saw in her local community, she began incorporating hemp-derived wellness products into her stores in 2017. In 2018, this vision fully evolved into the creation of Terry’s Naturals.
