Anise essential oil is steam-distilled from the star-shaped seeds of an Asian Illicium verum tree. Our oils come from Chinese grown plants, which are considered some of the most premium in their class for a number of reasons including high levels and percentage per acre cultivated.
Anise Star is derived from the Illicium verum plant. It’s made through steam distillation and has been found in many cultures around the globe as an ingredient for both flavor and fragrance because it smells so good! This unique spice possesses not only sweet flavors but also a licorice-like aroma which makes this particular herb great to blend with lavender, orange, cinnamon, clove, or pine!
The magnolia is a beautiful and majestic species of tree that can grow up to 8m (26 feet). The leaves are lanceolate, like those on other plants in the Magnolia family. Axillary flowers emit yellow petals during their bloom season; this signature scent attracts insects for pollination purposes! Their fruits or “berries” have hard shells which aren’t edible – they’re used as containers only until ripe before being sun-dried overnight so moisture cannot seep through.
Anise is a warming essential oil commonly used for its sweet, licorice-like aroma. It can be mixed into blends or applied in 2-5% dilution and will add complexity to your scent while filling it with warmth. Anise is one of our favorite fall essential oil blends!
Anise oil is rich in anethole, which will turn into crystals at cool temperatures. The Japanese use the seeds for temple building and funerary rituals; it’s also used as incense.
