CBD oil is made by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant, then diluting it with a carrier oil such as coconut or hemp seed oil. These can then be mixed with flavonoids or terpenes. These generally take longer to take effect but appeal to those who do not prefer the sublingual dosing.

A CBD tincture uses a high proof alcohol-based solvent to extract the natural compounds of the cannabis plant. This makes for a much longer shelf life but leaves a bitter taste in raw form. Tinctures are often mixed with additives like vegetable glycerin for a wider range of flavors and additional vitamins, herbal extracts, or supplements like melatonin, depending on the goal of the products.
